[Review Request] Please review kitchen plan. Thank you.

By admin | March 1, 2009

Please review this plan. This is version one. Thanks a million. I can’t thank you enough for the help. I live 120 miles from the nearest Ikea and I have 3 kids under age 4, so I can’t get there too easily.

some notes:

  1. I’m hoping to get everything set and make one trip. I did this at the old house; it was OK.

Haven’t settled on a door style yet. Something white.

  2. I can’t move the windows, this isn’t a major kitchen renovation and I like them.
  3. The roll-up cabinet and the 24 inch wide wall cabinet will be centered on the wall above the second sink. The planner is being difficult, so it looks funky.
  4. The tall wall cabinets (pantries) may be replaced with a Billy bookcase I already have that is currently being used as a pantry and is bolted to the wall.
  5. The cabinet next to the stove, and next to the second sink is intentionally flipped backward so that the drawers will not hit the stove, but open on the aisle on the other side.
  6. The 9 inch space next to the stove will be filled with a 2liter pull-out drawer purchased from Home Depot and mounted on Ikea legs. Ditto for the 9 inch space above the stove and to the right.
  7. We’re going to install a vent and run the pipes through the cabinets.
  8. I’d like to put a 39 5/8 wide countertop (Numerar beech) on the peninsula so that the kids can sit on the other side and eat. It isn’t an option in the planner, though. Any advice?
  9. The width of the aisle between the main sink and the peninsula will be 42inches, a bit less than standard, but we had that at the old house and it was OK.
  10. The wall along the doorways, under the row of horizontal cabinets will have a Stat shoe cabinet, Stat mirrored cabinet, cork board, calendar, etc. The Stat items are 7 inches deep.
  11. The space between the door and the tall wall cabinets will be made into a broom closet by modifying a fridge panel or something similar.
  12. The second sink may be forsaken in favor of more counter and drawer space. Had 2 sinks at the old house. It was handy, but not essential. Saves me plumbing and faucet costs, too.

Be honest! And, again, thanks so much!!
